Google Trends

Google TrendsGoogle Trends is a service that launched in May 2006.

This service allows you to see how popular search terms have been over time on Google and also shows how popular different web sites are, along with related demographic information as estimated by Google.

To compare the world’s interest in your favorite topics, you can enter up to five topics, and see how often they have been searched.

Google Trends also shows how frequently your topics have appeared in Google News stories, and in which geographic regions people have searched for them most.

Google Hot Trends

Hot Trends is another service provided by Google Trends, and was launched in May 2007.

This service the “hottest” searches at Google on an hourly basis.

It is an addition to Google Trends which displays the top 20 hot, i.e., fastest rising, searches (search-terms) of the past hour in the United States. Hot Trends shows searches that have recently experienced a sudden surge in popularity.

For each of the search-terms, it provides a 24-hour search-volume graph as well as blog, news and web search results.

Hot Trends has a history feature for those wishing to browse past hot searches. It can be installed as an iGoogle Gadget, and is also available as an hourly RSS feed.
